- Highlights of 2025
In 2009 Mr VL Sonavane joined the prestigious post of Member, MERC (Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission). Before joining MERC, was holding the charge of Director – projects, having worked in various capacities in Maharashtra State Electricity Board, has worked on many special cases and has presented and published over 40 papers in various National and International Conferences. ⦁ Awarded by the University of Pune “Prof P T Kulkarni Award” in June 1975 for securing Highest marks in M.E.(Electrical) Examination (First Class First). ⦁ Deputed by MSEB for 14 months special training program in “Application Software for Load Despatch stations” at works of M/s Siemens AG Works at Erlangen in West Germany from June 1981 to August 1982. ⦁ Deputed for 14 week training course by USIAD at Atlanta USA on “Urban Distribution Systems” from April 1995 to June 1995. ⦁ Visited the “Energy Management Centre in Philadelphia” during tour to USA in May/June 2010. Also delivered a lecture on “Maharashtra’s Energy Settlement Mechanism” during the visit.
