As a global technology and business leader in next generation electric power generation, transmission, and distribution, Dr. Kumar is responsible for guiding L&T’s DES talented team to success. His expertise in electric power markets, smart utility control rooms, grid automation systems and services, microgrids, and smart cities—together with his vast business development experience—is already achieving company objectives with multiple clean energy integration, utility operations, and grid research projects in California. He draws upon more than 25 years of experience cultivating new businesses amidst significant technology and policy shifts. Dr. Kumar led multi- million-dollar projects at GE Renewables, Alstom, and Areva for utilities across the U.S., Europe, India, China, and the Middle East. In the U.S., projects often included collaboration with the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, leading research universities, and national laboratories. Early in his career, he led the innovation group at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) as it transitioned to a deregulated energy services operation.
