Narayankumar Sreekumar is currently an energy professional with a demonstrated history of working across various dimensions of sustainable development for electricity utilities, electricity regulatory commissions, policymakers, and development organizations. He holds a unique balance of the global project experience through projects on various aspects of the power sector. With over 12 years of experience, he has been helping various distribution utilities, transition to next- gen utilities. He was extensively involved in the development and implementation of demand-side management action plans and energy transition roadmaps for various electric utilities/ government agencies across India. He has also assisted power utilities and regulatory commissions in developing models on electricity pricing, network planning & augmentation exercises to improve operational performance and to accommodate renewable energy. Over the years, he has worked extensively with electric utilities, electricity regulatory commissions, multilateral & bilateral funding organizations like the Department for International Development (DFID), New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ), World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), European Union and philanthropies in various countries including India, Pakistan, Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Guyana. Currently, he is leading the electric mobility initiatives of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF). Prior joining SSEF he led the power division at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi. During his tenure at TERI he led TERI’s team in preparing DSM action plans and energy efficiency roadmaps for 40 electricity distribution utilities across the Indian subcontinent with a consumer base ranging from 0.2 million to 27 million. He worked extensively on market research and control group experiments among various consumer categories to implement Demand Response (DR) and IoT-based energy management systems. Mr. Sreekumar assisted, World Bank and Government of Punjab in implementing India’s debut Direct Benefit Transfer for Electricity (DBTE) scheme among agricultural consumers in the state.
