René Böringer

René Böringer is an industry-leading expert in smart metering and technological design of multi-utility systems for electricity, water, and gas.René studied Electrical, Electronics and Communications Networks from 1998 to 2003 at the Technical University of Ilmenau where he graduated with an Engineer’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.From 2003 to 2007 he worked as a Researcher and Assistant Lecturer at the Chair of Integrated Hardware and Software Systems Design at the University. In parallel, between 2004 and 2007, René was the owner of and Managing Director at IDEO Laboratories GmbH, where he was responsible for business development, strategies and key accounts, before founding Cuculus.In 2007 he was part of the founding team for Cuculus with the vision to create a service platform connecting millions of households. At Cuculus he worked as Managing Director between 2007 and 2022, leading the strategy division, the product management and the sales team. Since January 2023, René assumed the role of the CEO at Cuculus, and has been responsible for company operations and business development across all divisions and geographies.
